In 2008, I left academia to start an organizational strategy consulting business, Curran Career Consulting. Recognized as a subject matter expert in the careers field, my work is informed by 12 years of experience directing career services at Brown University and Duke University, and 13 years serving in high-level positions in human resources.
Working with dozens of colleges and universities around the country, I have frequently been asked to consult in areas beyond careers. Our new company, the Curran Consulting Group, uses a broad-based, holistic approach to solve administrative problems in a wide variety of areas, including international, alumni relations, and institutional advancement. We employ subject matter experts where necessary to supplement our organizational expertise.
In advance of every assignment, we identify the expected results and ensure that all recommendations are consistent with the institution’s mission, goals, and priorities. Our company differs from others by focusing almost entirely on higher education and offering not only consultation but also implementation services.
I find that almost every assignment involves the need for a broad understanding of how higher education works and how staff deal with change. It helps that I am an experienced leader in human resources, possessing the lifetime Senior Practitioner in Human Resources (SPHR) qualification.
